Jason Lopez was born and raised in the Bronx section of New York City, where he was raised by his mother.

Before pursuing his dream as an actor, Lopez's love for poetry found him forming a hip-hop/rap group with several childhood friends. Due to creative differences, after 5 years together, Lopez parted ways. It was around that time Lopez began to seriously consider his love for the arts.

After landing several film projects, Lopez decided to give his music career a break and began his journey as an actor.
